Committees abroad read thousands of applications in which the numbers all say roughly the same thing. Research is what breaks the tie.
A research degree selects for research.An MS thesis track or a PhD is a research qualification, and the committee is choosing people who can actually do the work. A publication is direct evidence of that. Everything else on your application is a proxy for it.
It is the only part of your application a stranger checked.You write your statement. You choose your referees. Your transcript comes from an institution the committee may not know well. A paper was judged by reviewers who had never heard of you and had no reason to be kind.
This is the part applicants underrate. A publication is not only a line on a CV — it is material, and it turns up everywhere in the application:
Peer-reviewed IEEE conferences, or a Scopus-indexed journal where that fits the work better — chosen around your field and the schools you are targeting.
The paper documents work that has to exist. You build it, your code and data go public, and you learn the methods well enough to defend them.

You are matched with a mentor in your field. Starting from the topic you want to work on, together you fix the target universities, the timeline, and the venue you are writing for — before a word is written.
Most of your time goes here. Templates and field-specific guidance, the method and the experiments, code and data published openly — and you learn it well enough to answer for it.
Your mentor edits with you to the standard the venue expects, then handles formatting, supplementary material, and the submission portal.
Peer review almost always comes back with revisions. Your mentor works through them with you, helps you write the response, and prepares you to present.
Paper, DOI, repository, slides, reviewer correspondence, working files. All of it is yours to keep.
Our mentors are practising engineers from institutes like BITS Pilani and IIT (BHU), publishing research of their own. Whoever you are matched with stays with you for the whole project, and the paper at the end is yours.

Your mentor supervises the work and teaches you to do it, and supervision, guidance, and editing do not by themselves make someone an author. What has to be yours is the research and the writing — which is why most of stage 2 goes on the project rather than on the manuscript.

Not every venue under those umbrellas is equal, and an admissions committee in engineering or computer science knows the difference. Choosing well is a real part of what your mentor does in stage 1. We do not submit to pay-to-publish venues — a paper in one is worse than no paper at all.
Around four months from the first call to publication, in most cases.
Two things move that. Review cycles run on the venue's calendar and are outside anyone's control, and projects that have to be built from scratch take longer than projects extending work you have already started. Your mentor will give you an honest estimate in stage 1 rather than a best case.
We quote after the first call, because the price depends on what you need: how many papers, the tier of venue you are targeting, your timeline, and how much of the underlying project has to be built from the ground up. The consultation itself is free and you are not required to commit to anything on it.
The first call is free and there is nothing to commit to on it. Bring your target universities and whatever you are interested in working on — even if it is vague. By the end you will know what is realistic in the time you have, and whether we are the right people for it.
